Device driver support

DSS Networks device drivers are designed for embedded and real-time, telecom and datacom applications and include operating system support for VxWorks, Linux, and Windows XP Embedded. Our device drivers are provided to OEMS and Systems Integrators for product development and integration and include support for our board level products. Gigabit controller support is provided for the following devices:

Device support
  • Intel 82546 Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet PCI-X MAC-PHY (w/integrated transceivers)
  • Broadcom BCM5421S gigabit transceiver w/Serdes
  • Broadcom BCM5464SR quad gigabit transceiver w/Serdes
  • Broadcom BCM5690 12-port gigabit switch fabric network processor
  • Vitesse VSC7123 fiber Serdes
  • PMC-Sierra PM8363 quad-port fiber transceiver
  • Broadcom BCM5704S dual-port PCI-X gigabit controller w/Serdes
  • National DP83820 64/66 PCI MAC controller
  • National DP83865 gigabit transceivers
The core software team at DSS Networks specializes in developing device drivers and embedded communications networking software and firmware. Our driver software is designed and developed to quality standards and continuously tested for reliability, functionality and performance. Extended features are implemented to support high-performance and advanced features of the chipsets and include run-time configuration and management, real-time trace, extended statistics, loopback, frame generators and register display routines.

Drivers from DSS Networks are are based on a modular, split-module architecture (operating system upper and hardware lower) and support standard operating system interfaces. Being modular in design, our drivers have been sucessfully ported to other operating systems and also firmware-based systems without an operating system.

Advanced features including IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation, load balancing, fail over and fall back and loopback are optionally available in our Gigabit Ethernet device drivers.
