DSS NETWORKS ANNOUNCES FOURTH GENERATION QUAD PORT GIGABIT ETHERNET PMC CONTROLLER FOR EMBEDDED SYSTEMS APPLICATIONS
Irvine, CA - December 9, 2002 - DSS Networks announces another network first -- offering four ports of Gigabit Ethernet on a single PMC Mezzanine card -
a winning new addition to their expanding family of Gigabit Ethernet products targeted for Embedded Broadband Network Applications.
GigMAC PMC Quad Port - Model 5164. The model 5164 offers four ports of 10/100/1000 Base T Gigabit Ethernet over Copper and is fully IEEE 802.3ab compliant.
It is packaged in a 64-bit PCI Mezzanine (PMC) form factor suitable for embedded enclosures and operates in 64-bit, 66 MHZ PCI mode.
It has quad onboard fully shielded recessed RJ-45 connectors and connects directly to CAT5 twisted pair cabling.
It uses the very latest in Gigabit Ethernet controller technology offering a very high-level of integration using the least amount of power;
using ultra low power dual port integrated MAC-PHY PCI-X controllers and an onboard PCI-PCI bridge.
Power consumption is low utilizing less than 7W total board power running all four ports in Gigabit mode.
This product offers excellent performance and value with simultaneous quad-port capability on a single PMC mezzanine card and includes optional
support for link failover and aggregation features. It is targeted for OEMs and Systems Integrators for use in Data and Telecommunications
products including Switches, Edge Routers, Gateways, Servers and Internet Appliances. It is well suited for a variety of embedded broadband
applications including Broadband Multi-media Transmission, Internet Voice, Digital Video, IP Security, Internet Monitoring and Storage Area networking.
This product is available now with a OEM Developers Kit including Linux and VxWorks drivers, library software, utilities and documentation.
